Solar Panel Cleaning in Richardson

We clean solar panels with purified water and soft brushes, the way panel makers ask them to be cleaned. While the glass is clear, we look over the wiring, clamps and frames. You get your output back and a short note on anything we noticed.

When cleaning is the right call

Solar glass collects a thin film over time. Dust, pollen, bird droppings and the mineral spots left by sprinklers or hard rain all cut how much light reaches the cells. Rain rinses some of it away, but it rarely lifts the sticky layer that builds up on low-pitch arrays or along the bottom edge of each panel.

Panel cleaning makes sense when your monitoring app shows a slow, even drop in production with no fault codes, or when you can see grime from the ground. If output falls suddenly, or one string stops reporting, that points to a fault, and our solar repair service is the better first call.

We treat a cleaning visit as careful work on electrical equipment that sits on your home. That means following the manufacturer's cleaning instructions so your panel warranty stays intact, using safe roof access, and keeping water and tools away from connectors and the inverter.

What a cleaning visit includes

Purified, low-mineral water

We rinse with deionized water so the glass dries clear instead of leaving white spots. Hard tap water leaves its own film, which defeats the point.

Soft brushes, no pressure washer

High-pressure spray can force water past frame seals and stress the anti-reflective coating. We use soft-bristle brushes and gentle flow, and no harsh detergents.

Cool-glass timing

We schedule work for mornings or cooler hours. Cold water on panels that have baked in a Texas afternoon can stress the glass.

Visual check of the array

With the glass clean, cracks, hot-spot discoloration and loose clamps are easier to see. We also look at exposed wiring, conduit runs and signs of nesting under the panels.

Photos and a short summary

You get before and after photos and a plain note on anything worth watching. If something needs repair, we explain it and leave the decision with you.

Signs your panels need cleaning

  • Production slipping month over month

Compare the same sunny week across a few months. A gradual decline with no error codes often means soiling.

  • Visible film or streaks

If the panels look gray or hazy from the yard, the layer on top is thicker than it seems.

  • Bird droppings that stay put

Droppings shade individual cells and do not wash off in rain. Even one spot can pull down a whole panel's output.

  • Dirt line along the bottom edge

On lower-pitch roofs, runoff carries grime down and leaves it where the glass meets the frame.

  • After pollen season or nearby construction

Heavy spring pollen and dust from new building work settle fast and bake on in summer heat.

How the day runs

  1. 1

    A quick talk by phone

We ask about your system size, roof pitch, how many stories and what your monitoring shows. That is enough to give you a quote and set a morning time.

  2. 2

    Safe setup

We set ladders on stable footing, use fall protection on the roof and walk only where it is safe for your roofing. We do not step on the panels.

  3. 3

    Careful cleaning

Each panel gets a rinse, a soft-brush pass and a final rinse with purified water. We keep spray away from junction boxes, connectors and the inverter.

  4. 4

    Look-over and wrap-up

We check the array with clean glass, take photos and tidy the work area. Before we leave, we walk you through what we saw.

What moves the price

Most cleaning quotes come down to how many panels there are and how hard they are to reach safely. We give you the number by phone before we schedule, and it does not change on the day unless you ask us to add something.

Number of panels
More panels mean more water and more time on the roof. Arrays split across several roof faces take longer than one tidy block.
Roof height and pitch
A two-story home with a steep pitch needs more setup and safety gear than a single-story roof.
How much has built up
Panels that have not been cleaned in years, or that carry heavy droppings, need extra passes.
Access around your home
Tight side yards, landscaping beds and fences affect where ladders can go and how long setup takes.

Panel cleaning questions

Something not covered here? (972) 640-9278

Will cleaning affect my panel warranty?

Cleaning done the wrong way can. Many panel makers warn against pressure washers, abrasive pads and strong chemicals. We follow those care guidelines, which is the reason we use purified water and soft brushes.

How often should panels be cleaned here?

For most homes in Richardson and nearby towns like Plano and Garland, once or twice a year is plenty. Late spring, after pollen season, is a good time. Homes near trees or open construction lots may want more.

Can I just hose them off myself?

From the ground with a gentle hose, a light rinse does little harm. We do not recommend climbing onto the roof or using a pressure washer. The fall risk is real, and high pressure can damage seals and coatings.

What if you find a problem while cleaning?

We photograph it and explain what it likely means. We have been in business 5 years and our team holds over 40 solar certificates and licenses, so we can usually tell a cosmetic issue from one that needs solar repair. You decide what happens next.

Does the warranty cover systems you installed?

Systems we installed carry our 10-year workmanship warranty on solar. A cleaning visit is a good chance to look over that work, and we will tell you if anything we see falls under it.
